Rising nursing star, Katrina Sealey, School Nurse, Epsom 0-19 Team

Congratulations to our multi-talented Student School Nurse, Katrina Sealey, who has not only been nominated for a prestigious Nursing Times 2017 award in the ‘Rising Star’ category, but has also written a children’s book called Angry, Angry Angus, which was published on 10 August. The award judging took place in September, with winners announced on 2 November at a ceremony to be held at Grosvenor House, London.

Based at Epsom Clinic, Katrina works within the 0-19 team and supports schools in Epsom, Ewell and Banstead.

“My nomination for the Nursing Times Award was a wonderful surprise. My academic tutor during my Masters, Susan from Kingston University, suggested my application – so to be among the 12 finalists is great!

“My book is my biggest achievement. It is something I dreamt about doing for a long time and now I’ve finally achieved it. The story is about helping children process their feelings when they or their friends are sad or angry, without lashing out at others. I researched the topic with focus groups of School Nurses and Special Language Therapists, who were very helpful with their feedback.”
