Overview

This event is aimed at young people with SEND in year 8 and above, whether at school, home schooled or not in education or employment, and their families. It is seeks to:

The Preparing for Adulthood event is intended to enthuse, inform and empower SEND young people and their families about the gainful employment (following education), independent living, healthy living and social inclusion for the journey into adulthood.

Presentations and Key speakers on the day:
  • Linda Jordan - National Development team for Preparing for Adulthood
  • Steve Broach - lawyer, disability & children’s rights advocate - co-author of ‘Disabled Children: A Legal Handbook’
  • Many more guest speakers will be there

  • Presentations will cover all aspects of health support from planning and assessment to review and support at Year 9 ECHP, or SEN Support annual review for intended journey in terms of education, employment, independent living, being healthy and being socially included. Also learning about appropriate friendships, healthy living, mental and physical health support.

    Marketplace

    There will be a marketplace with over 50 stalls with information on education, care provision and providers.

    Surveys

    Families will have opportunities to give feedback on the services we provide and how we can improve them.
