Celebrating the Unicef Baby Friendly Re-Accreditation award

Unicef celebration photo2.jpgFollowing the Children and Family Health Surrey Unicef Baby Friendly Re-Accreditation award last year, our infant feeding leads Sue Ashfield, Louise Colbert and Maggie Pringle recently celebrated the arrival of the official plaque with Trudy Mills, Director of Children and Family Health Surrey.

Trudy Mills said: "Many congratulations to the infant feeding leads and infant feeding champions, along with all the 0-19 teams for the Unicef Baby Friendly Re-Accreditation. I'm so proud of you all and what you've achieved, especially given the extra pressures you've faced due to COVID-19."

The Baby Friendly Initiative, set up by Unicef and the World Health Organisation, is a global programme which provides a practical and effective way for health services to improve the care provided for all mothers and babies. The initiative works with services to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding and to strengthen mother-baby and family relationships.

Mums and other health professionals can now be certain they’re getting good advice on looking after their baby after Surrey’s health visitors were reaccredited as Unicef Baby Friendly.

The prestigious accolade is given to organisations who have demonstrated that they can provide practical and effective ways to improve the service they offer to mothers and babies, meeting set standards on feeding and caring for their babies.
