New free online guides for understanding your preterm or sick baby

Two new online guides have been launched from the Solihull Approach:

These two courses have been designed in partnership with clinical psychologists, health professionals and parents as a supportive resource for families experiencing neonatal care for their baby or babies.

Surrey residents can access the guides for free by using the code 'ACORN'.

Understanding your preterm or sick baby courses promote close and connected parent-infant relationships building on the Solihull Approach’s trusted model of containment and reciprocity. They also provide supportive guidance around baby development milestones relating to feeding, sleeping and crying. These courses are designed to:

  • Help parents understand and process their feelings and those of their baby
  • Focus on nurturing, sensitive, attuned relationships
  • Signpost practical resources to help navigate new environments and transitions
  • Be easily accessible focusing separately on experiences at hospital and at home
  • Be completely free online to access in your own time
  • Consider different family arrangements and offer support for all friends and family members hoping to support baby.
