Celebrating the Bump and Beyond antenatal project

Bump7 (3).jpgFollowing the launch of the Bump and Beyond antenatal project last year, an event was held in Woking on 9 June to celebrate the achievements of the project.

The Bump and Beyond antenatal sessions are the result of a 12-month project to explore new ways to engage with families with an aim of significantly increasing the number of in-person antenatal contacts within the health visiting teams.

The sessions have been positively received with almost 200 families attending a session in the first four months of 2022.

These antenatal sessions are delivered by our health visitors in some areas of Surrey with the aim to roll out the sessions across Surrey.

The sessions aim to help prepare parents for the first weeks and months of their child’s life while getting to know their local health visitor.

Each session has been designed to cover the key areas new parents shared they want to feel informed about as well as introducing families to each other and encouraging peer support.

You can read more on the Antental page.

Following this success, Children and Family Health Surrey is now adopting Bump and Beyond on an ongoing basis. The programme will be rolled out in the coming months.

Many thanks to everyone involved in the Bump and Beyond project who took on this challenge to improve antenatal support.
